Horse Vision
Did you know – Unlike humans, horses do not see things directly ahead of themselves?
The equine eye is one of the largest of all land mammals, with an arc of sight reaching some 350 degrees, considerably greater than that of cats/dogs which is around 150 degrees. Horses have eyes on the sides, and hence an obvious benefit to this is the ability to see predators approaching.
The Snellen scale, used by opticians, gives humans an indication of sight ability – the maximum of which is 20/20 vision, which compares to 20/30 vision for horses.
